TinyChat now: from chat rooms to random video chat
TinyChat was known for years for group video chat rooms. Those rooms are gone: today tinychat.com is a one-on-one random video chat with strangers in the browser (checked 2026-10-13). Here is what changed, how it works now and what to know about cost and safety. 18+ only.
What changed
- Dec 16, 2024: an archived tinychat.com page (Jan 2025) says TinyChat “has decided to shut down” and points users to Paltalk.
- May 5, 2025: a press release announced TinyChat’s return as one-on-one random video chat – “no chatrooms, no public streaming”.
- Today: the homepage title is “TinyChat – Random Video Chat with Strangers”. Its terms name Eastwood Media B.V. (Breda, NL) as operator.
How TinyChat works now
- Open tinychat.com in a browser (desktop or mobile).
- Select your gender and allow camera and microphone access.
- You are matched with a random stranger; press “Next” to skip, “Stop” to end.
You can also type in the text chat during a call (per the site’s FAQ).
Is TinyChat free?
Per the site, random 1-on-1 chats are free; country and gender filters need a premium membership, which its refund page says is sold and billed by CooMeet. No sign-up is required to start.
Is TinyChat safe?
The site states it offers anonymous chats, no data collection and 24/7 moderation (its own statements). Random video chat always carries risk: stay anonymous, don’t share contact details, and leave any chat that feels wrong.

An archived copy of tinychat.com (January 2025) shows a notice that TinyChat shut down on December 16, 2024 and pointed users to Paltalk. A press release dated May 5, 2025 announced a relaunch as one-on-one random video chat without chat rooms.
